What is the Skyrim Make a Follower Kit and Where to Download It

The Skyrim Make a Follower Kit is a mod that provides a tutorial and a kit for creating your own custom follower. It was created by Nexus user MofuMofuSan and can be downloaded from this link: Make a Custom Follower Kit at Skyrim Nexus - Nexus Mods.

The mod includes two folders: one for those who already know how to make a vanilla follower using the Creation Kit, and one for those who want to use Racemenu to create their follower's appearance. The mod also includes some sample files and scripts that you can use as references or templates.

To use the Skyrim Make a Follower Kit, you will need the following tools:

  • The Creation Kit: This is the official tool for creating and editing mods for Skyrim. You can download it from Steam under Library > Tools > Creation Kit.

  • Racemenu: This is an optional tool that allows you to customize your character's appearance in-game. You can download it from this link: RaceMenu at Skyrim Nexus - Nexus Mods.

  • A text editor: This is any program that can edit plain text files, such as Notepad or Notepad++.

How to Create Your Follower's Appearance Using Racemenu

If you want to use Racemenu to create your follower's appearance, you will need to follow these steps:

  • Start Skyrim and either start a new game or load an existing game.

  • Open the console by pressing (tilde) key and type showracemenu. This will open the character creation screen.

  • Create your follower's appearance the same way you would create any other character you were going to play. You can change their race, gender, hair, eyes, skin tone, facial features, body shape, tattoos, scars, etc.

  • When you are satisfied with your follower's appearance, exit the character creation screen and save your game.

  • Open the console again and type spf followed by the name of your follower. For example: spf Lydia. This will export your follower's appearance to your installation folder (the one up from Data that contains the Skyrim.exe).

  • You will find a file named after your follower in your installation folder. For example: Lydia.npc. This file contains all the information about your follower's appearance.

How to Create Your Follower's Traits and Behaviors Using the Creation Kit

If you want to use the Creation Kit to create your follower's traits and behaviors, you will need to follow these steps:

  • Open the Creation Kit and click File > Open. Then double-click Skyrim.esm. This will load all the data from the base game.

  • Click File > Save As and give your mod a name. For example: MyFollower.esp. This will create a new plugin file that will contain all the changes you make.

  • In the Object Window on the left side of the screen, expand Actors > Actor and right-click on any NPC. Then click New to create a new NPC.

  • In the NPC window that opens, give your NPC an ID and a name. For example: MyFollowerID and MyFollowerName.

  • In the Traits tab, set the race and gender of your NPC to match those of your follower's appearance file. For example: if you created Lydia.npc as a female Nord, set Race as NordRace and Female as True.

  • Click Import under Face Data and browse to your follower's appearance file. For example: Lydia.npc. This will import all the facial features from that file into your NPC.

  • Set either Essential or Protected under Flags depending on whether you want your follower to be immortal or not. Also check Unique if you want your follower to be one of a kind.

  • Pick an authorized voice from the VoicesFollowerNeutral formlist under Voice Type. This will determine what voice lines your follower will use in dialogue.

  • Set Disposition Base to 75 under Disposition Base Value. This will determine how friendly your follower will be towards you.

  • In the Stats tab, set Level Mult as PCMult under Leveling Data if you want your follower to level up with you or set Level as FixedLevel if you want them to have a fixed level.
